Giovanni Spazzi

Verona 1824 – Milan 1866

Giovanni Spazzi was born in Verona in 1824, the son of the sculptor Antonio. After studying sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice, he debuted in Venice in 1846, showing a Sappho.

Many of his works are preserved within the Monumental Cemetery of Verona: one of the most important is the Monumento Erbisti Brenzoni which was created in 1852.

He died in 1866 in Milan, whilst in exile for political reasons related to the events of the Risorgimento.
