Falceri monument

AUTHOR: Eugenio Prati

Monumento Falceri

The monument consists of a sepulchral shrine on the wall, a bronze relief representing four painful figures at the foot of the cross and wrapped in cloaks, a pair of wrought-iron lanterns hung on the sides and a base with another relief bronze. The figures are characterized by the absence of volume and simple and marked lines, expressed in the unnatural audacity of faces and cloaks. The wall of the monument forms a Gothic arch decorated with a denticulated frame in the center of which stands the cross, while the lanterns, sacred furniture typical of the medieval world, contribute to creating a Gothic atmosphere. On the base there is a bronze relief that represents the deposition of Christ in the sepulcher, a very popular theme in the cemetery area.
