Bonazzi chapel

AUTHOR: Gilberto Barbesi; Riccardo Cassini

Cappella Bonazzi

The sculptural idea of the chapel dedicated to the Bonazzi family, located inside a concrete enclosure, focuses on the passage of time represented through the pages of a bronze book in which a bas-relief bud by Riccardo Cassini lives its four seasons. Gilberto Barbesi, designer of the sepulcher, calls it “a monolithic structure dug out of the rock”: the narrow and low entrance door, to indicate the difficult passage between earthly life and the afterlife, does not allow to see from the outside in which environment will lead. The monument is a place of memories, sacred and profane at the same time, and in its contrasts it symbolizes life and death in their perpetual cycle.
