Stegagno monument

The monument is dedicated to the Stegagno family and consists of a base in yellow marble on which rests a bronze sculpture. The statue depicts a woman holding a lit lamp in her hand: it symbolizes the light of faith that illuminates the darkness of death, represented by the skull carved at the base. The theme of the work is described by the engraving on the base “LUX IN TENEBRIS LUCET” (the light shines in the darkness) taken from the Gospel of John.
