Sparavieri monument

AUTHOR: Grazioso Spazzi

The monument is of the noble Sparavieri family, owner of funds and rural courts in the areas of Verona dedicated to the cultivation of rice. The work has an inscription in Latin, typical of the neoclassical style, and is a clear reference to Canova: instead of the sorrow, a winged genius of death is depicted, afflicted before the herms of the dead. A stork stands guard over the scene, a symbolic reference to filial love, rebirth, the immortality of the soul and the cyclical existence.
