Monumento Mardesteig

The monument is dedicated to Giovanni Mardsteig, the German-born German publisher and printer who founded the Valdonega Printing House in the homonymous district of Verona in 1948. The typography, dedicated to the printing of valuable volumes, was launched on the experience of the Bodoni Workshop, founded by the publisher in 1922 in Lugano and transferred to Verona in 1927. The work was designed by his son Martino and consists of a red marble stele showing the family surname and a vegetable ornament that recalls those used in the 15th century manuscripts. The base of the monument consists of the access to the sepulchral chamber with two flower boxes on the sides.
