The plaque commemorating Maria Dall’Ora is the last work done by Ugo Zannoni for the Monumental Cemetery and dates back to three years before the artist’s death.
In the portrait of the woman, the sculptor shows the typical features of the style that distinguished him throughout the course of his career: marked realism, attention to detail and the presence of gilding in the background. The medallion is surrounded by an olive wreath, a symbol of eternal peace. Palm branches emerge from the two marble vases located at the ends of the tombstone, a symbol of resurrection, and roses, a symbol of purity and innocence linked to the figure of Mary.
