Lebzeltern monument

AUTHOR: Angelo Gottardi

The monument recalls the disappearance of the Baroness Antonietta Lezeltern and is the most important example of Neo-Gothic style in the Monumental Cemetery of Verona. The mausoleum is also home to the Stowasser family: related to the Lebzelterns and originating in the Czech Republic, the Stowasser were producers of wind instruments. The white marble portrait of the young Antonietta is framed by a garland of flowers and is placed in the center of a portal flanked by two pinnacles and surmounted by a hanging aedicule in which there is an angel. The choice of the neogothic style emphasizes the spiritual aspect of the work and pays tribute to the provenance of the Lebzeltern family, expressed also by the Gothic font chosen for the epigraph.
