Celestino Gérard monument

AUTHOR: Carlo Spazzi

The monument is dedicated to the Celestino Gérard family and presents an unpublished subject for the Monumental Cemetery of Verona made by Carlo Spazzi in bronze, an unusual material for the sculptor. At the center of the tombstone is a bronze statue depicting Christ crowned with thorns sitting with his hands tied and resting on his knees: the theme represented is that of the Ecce Homo (from the Latin, here is the man) and derives from the pronounced expression from Pontius Pilate showing the crowded body of Jesus to the crowd.
