Bedoni monument

AUTHOR: Ruperto Banterle

The monument is dedicated to Arplè Bedoni, an aspiring infantry officer who fell in battle on the Isonzo Front at the age of 21 during the First World War. The bronze sculpture depicts Bedoni’s mother as she extends her arms towards the body of the young man lying on the tomb and wrapped in the Italian flag: the woman’s pose recalls the gesture of protection with which she cradled her son as a child. Beside the sepulcher, a candelabrum with small angelic figures at the base radiates the scene with light and is a symbol of faith and love.
