On March 8, 2026, the Ossuary Temple for the Fallen of the Great War will open to the public for a morning of commemoration and historical reflection, on the occasion of the International Day for Women’s Rights and International Peace.
The initiative, included in the program “La Repubblica delle donne. 80 anni di futuro”, promoted by the Department of Gender Equality of the Municipality of Verona, will take place inside the Ossuary Temple and will begin at 10:30 a.m.
At 10:45 a.m., the choir “Amici della Baita” from Lugagnano di Sona will perform. At 11:15 a.m., honors will be paid to the Italian flag and to the fallen soldiers, with the laying of a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and a floral tribute to Giuseppina Orlandi, the only woman buried in the shrine.
At 11:55 a.m., a historical talk entitled “Women in the ‘Wars’ and Orlandi Giuseppina,” presented by Dr. Anna Maria Campanella, will take place. The event will conclude at 12:00 p.m.
An occasion that brings together remembrance, history, and civic reflection, highlighting the role of women and the enduring meaning of the sacrifice commemorated within the city’s Military Shrine.
